G. Friedlander

We went to visit my mom's grave at Temple Sholom Cemetery where she's buried next to her sister, father and mother. We finally had the footstone placed. It's quite a coincidence that we live so close to this plot my grandparents purchased when they lived in Brooklyn and New Jersey as far as I ever knew.

Memorial Shindig

Just in time for my mom's birthday the Browncoats of NYC had a Memorial Shindig in her honor. A lot of her friends came and there was a lot of food and drink and stories. Leslie made a slide show of photos from past events. It was very touching. There was also cake.

Thanksgivukkah

This year we hosted Thanksgivukkah, as 2013 is the first time ever when Hanukkah converges with Thanksgiving. and not again for several thousands of years.

Bacia made latkes with cranberry sauce. The kids told Thanksgivukkah jokes and sang songs. We all played Hanukkah bingo. The boys performed a special Thanksgivukkah concert for us. And we ate...a lot! (Including turkey, challah stuffing, sweet potato kugel, pastrami string beans, and lots of deserts.)

My Mom

Aviva and the kids went to visit my mom in the city. They had lunch and were heading back to my mom's home when Aviva called me at work. When I answered the phone I heard this horrible, primal moaning in the background. I thought to myself "what's that noise? It sounds like someone's dying back there." Aviva urgently announced "You have to get over here right away! Your mom just fell and it's not good!"

Sid the Science Kid At The American Museum of Natural History

I took my mom and the kids to see a Special Screening of Sid the Science Kid: The Movie at The American Museum of Natural History. It was a lot better than I thought it would be. None of us really watched Sid The Science Kid that much. I felt like it included all the science topics I would expect and some topics I was surprised to be familiar with.

My Mom's Birthday

I took my mom to lunch for her birthday. I needed a pass to take my mom out of the facility, and the rehab center was supposed to have it ready. On Sunday the nurse said she would leave it for the doctor so that it would be ready. Yesterday, when I called, the nurse's station said I just had to pick it up when I was ready. When I arrived no one knew anything about it.

My Biological Father

My mom raised me by herself and I never knew my father until I met him once or twice when I was about 13. We never stayed in touch after that.

Over the past few years my kids have asked me about my father and I told them that I didn't know if he was alive or not.

Well now I know. According to Memorial Networks:
